The twenty-first century marked the beginning of online education and learning as a rapidly growing academic frontier. In 2002, the Government of Pakistan took its first step in this context and established the Virtual University of Pakistan (VUP) as an institution of higher learning. Pursuing global standards in online education, the University adopted several advanced methodologies of ICT for providing quality education and evaluating its students. In the discipline of Psychology, it was deemed essential to train students through professional internships at hospitals. Using various means of ICT, the University made these internships thoroughly supervised practices. This research includes two studies. The first study analyzed the outreach and success of the ICT based psychological training. The outreach was determined by a total of 318 internship cases out of which 228 were from Punjab, 32 from Sindh, 20 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 4 from Baluchistan, 2 from Azad Kashmir and 32 from Islamabad. The success was shown through the fact that in the four examinations conducted in 2016 and 2017, 52%, 66.5%, 54% and 50% of the students passed respectively. The internship reports of the successful students provided data for the second study, which showed that Major Depressive Disorder is the most prevalent disorder followed by Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Generalized Anxiety Disorder. The association of demographics with mental disorders was examined using Chi Square. The results showed that age and gender are significantly associated with disorders whereas the marital status is not. The research findings identify the prevailing trends of mental disorders in the country.
